Habits such as brushing, flossing,\u00a0and performing dental prophylaxis in the office.\u00a0Taking care of your teeth begins in childhood and extends throughout your life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is dental prophylaxis?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A dental prophylaxis is also called dental cleaning. It is one of the treatments included in preventive dentistry, the most common and simple that is performed daily in dental clinics.\u00a0This technique is used to remove <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmd.com\/oral-health\/guide\/tartar-dental-calculus-overview\">t<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmd.com\/oral-health\/guide\/tartar-dental-calculus-overview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">artar<\/a>. A substance that has become calcified due to the deposit of minerals in saliva on the upper part of the bacterial plaque. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The accumulation of tartar is the cause of various diseases such as tooth decay, gingivitis, or periodontal disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once the cleaning is finished, a brush or rubber cup with a special paste is usually used to polish the entire surface of the tooth. This process helps avoid the easy recreation of\u00a0dental plaque\u00a0and subsequent tartar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is\u00a0<strong>advisable to perform this technique routinely to all patients at least once a year<\/strong>\u00a0in a systematic way. Accompanied by a complete review, or every 6 months in specific cases or with associated pathologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Treatment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This treatment allows us to\u00a0sanitize the oral cavity\u00a0in order to maintain better hygiene routines at home and allows us to rule out problems where tartar adheres and that without its removal would be difficult to detect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As for the procedure itself, many people fear it.\u00a0Between the pricks, the noises, and the occasional discomfort in the jaw, apprehension is easy to understand.\u00a0But for the vast majority,\u00a0cleaning teeth is simple and painless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Knowing exactly what happens during the process can help relieve stress and allow you to better enjoy the results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Steps of dental prophylaxis treatment<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dental cleanings can be performed by the dentist or dental hygienist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Before the actual cleaning process begins, <strong>the dentist or the hygienist carefully checks<\/strong> around the teeth and gums\u00a0for signs of gingivitis (swollen gums) or other potential concerns.<\/li><li>Later, the dentist or dental hygienist\u00a0will remove plaque and\u00a0tartar\u00a0around the gum line, as well as between the teeth.<\/li><li>Once the teeth are completely free of tartar,\u00a0a high-power electric brush will be passed, which will help remove any stains and stains that remain and will polish and smooth the surface of the teeth.<\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dental prophylaxis is considered part of preventive dentistry What is preventive dentistry?
